Trail ride day aftermath

Don't let anyone fool you.  I don't care how long you've been riding horses or how tough you are, spending all day in the saddle is tough on your rump.  We had a great time though.  From ice cream to crashing a family get-together we had a very full day.  Read on to hear about all the fun stuff we did.

We started off the morning trying to catch Comanche so that we'd have enough horses to ride.  He did not want to be caught, but Marcus was able to finally convince him that we weren't going to do anything cross to him and he came around to letting us ride him.  Grace did a great job on him.  He actually turned out to be a very calm and solid trail horse.

Unlike Muffin, who tried at least twice to run away on Felicia.  However, Felicia was not having any of that attitude.  She impressed all our visiting friends who quickly started referring to her as the "little cowgirl."  I have to admit, I was pretty impressed myself.

There was, of course, a little race between Michelle on Tsunami and our friend Barbara on her horse Domino.  I was proud of little Tsunami; he won the race by at least a length or two.  A normal horse length that is; not a Tsunami horse length :)

After that it was back to the barn for lunch.  I absolutely love those carolina packer dogs.

In the afternoon we rode all the way down to the strawberry patch on 42 and got some refreshments.  We then took a bit of a scenic route and ended up crashing a family get together at some friends of James.  They were very gracious hosts and shared some delicious barbeque with us.  We got to meet their horses and had a great time talking with them for a while.  I think we made some new friends there.

Then it was back to the barn for tack down and clean up.  All in all it was a great day of riding and I think we all enjoyed it.  Aside from the sunburn and a bit of soreness that is.

We at EE Stables really hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Years. We held our annual pony rides at the same location as last year, off Hwy 50, and it was great. The weather was wonderful (remember last year when it was cold and raining?) and the visitors were really great. We have a lot of new students starting this year and we are so excited to have them and the rest of our great students out there at the barn. We've also got some new instructors out at the barn, some of them are even past students of ours! Read on to learn more about them and the other great things we've been up to!
