We had a great day at the barn today. Actually, we've had a great weekend. The instructors all had Friday off so we loaded up and headed down to Twin Oaks Trails (visit their website) which is just south of Lillington. It was a great day of riding through some pretty fun trails. Very nice woodsy riding with some challenging wetlands as well.
I also recently got to give Mikayla her first ever official horsey ride. I was on Duster trying out a new saddle and Michelle was there with Mikayla. I'd say she had a good time :) Needless to say I was very honored to be able to do that.
But today was a highlight day. We recently found out that a really cute horse we kept seeing on trail rides belongs to a friend of ours who lives right next to our farm. We used to go to church with him and he's a great guy. The horse has been by himself for quite a while and has not been ridden for two years. He told us if we wanted to enjoy him then we should help ourselves. Well today we did and we had a great time with Comanche.
After a thorough brushing and minor surgery to remove a rastafarian clump of tail we saddled him up and took him for a spin. I took the liberty of knocking some of the rust off (it has been at least two years since he'd been ridden) but Grace was ready and willing to hop right on. Watch Grace ride Comanche. I think we all had a great time with him today. Who knows what the future holds for cute little Comanche?
