There was a lot of change at Double E Stables this weekend.  Shalom went to live with a different family and Duster came to stay with us.  I was able to close a very important chapter in my horse experiences while opening yet another one.

It occurred to me that the life of a horse person can be summarized as a series of happy hellos, tearful good-bye's, all punctuated by a lot of "oh my"s.  The family that Shalom went to live with is wonderful and I could see right away that I was making the right choice when I took him there on Saturday.  They all loved him and will take good care of him (especially Zach).  It looked like he was very comfortable and felt at home.  He rode so well in the trailer on the way there.  I realized that helping him through his fears was my task and that now that task was over.  It was time for him to move on and put all that behind him.  I am thankful that I was the one that got to help him through all that.  I have to say though, that the farm felt very oddly empty on Saturday evening.

Then on Sunday we brought Duster back to the farm, this time for good.  He adjusted very quickly and is getting along really well with everyone, especially Sugar.  The whole thing was very cute.  He and Tsunami really hit it off well too.  No, I mean they hit it off really well. - I'm not sure how I feel about all that but I think I'll just not ask as long as they don't tell.  Hopefully I won't end up with "Brokeback Stables" because of those two...

I will try to post pictures and video from the weekend soon.  I forgot the dumb camara at the barn last night.  I'll also be updating our horse biographies soon.

We at EE Stables really hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Years. We held our annual pony rides at the same location as last year, off Hwy 50, and it was great. The weather was wonderful (remember last year when it was cold and raining?) and the visitors were really great. We have a lot of new students starting this year and we are so excited to have them and the rest of our great students out there at the barn. We've also got some new instructors out at the barn, some of them are even past students of ours! Read on to learn more about them and the other great things we've been up to!

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know that I've updated our website software. It was a pretty major update so if you notice anything that does not look right feel free to use the contact form to let me know. If the contact form is broken, just open your window and yell really loudly so I can be sure to fix it :)
