Barn News
We are now officially members of Central Carolina Barrel Racers. We run 6 events and the fun event at each show. The shows are held once a month, normally the third week of the month.
Well, we really wanted to try and do another Pony Ride day before Christmas for those that did not make it out last week due to the weather. Unfortunately, the weather is just not going to cooperate so we've decided to postpone the rides until around late February. I'm really sorry for those that missed out this year, but we really need the rain so we are not complaining about that at all.
All things considered, our pony rides were a success for today. We gave over fifty rides in four hours despite the cold and rain! I'm sure that lots of folks wanted to come out today but didn't due to the weather. So, because we love to do these rides and hate that people may have missed out, we've decided to come back to the same spot next week! We'll be back out on Highway Fifty at Grissom road from ten till two next Saturday. In the meantime, be sure to check out some pictures of the pony rides from today!
So Mikayla got to ride Tsunami with us just there for support (and balance). The video is super cute. You can watch it on our video page or on youtube. We've also done a couple more birthday parties out at the barn. You can check out those pictured on our birthday party page. Read on for a couple more updates about Comanche and our upcoming Pony Ride day.
Hey everyone, just wanted to say Hello and let you know what we're up to these days. Birthday parties and lots of lessons are the biggest things. We also just finished up the 2007 season for CCBR. You can check out the pictures here: www.eestables.com/pictures/album-27/53.htm
Howdy EE Stables guest! I just wanted to let you know some things that are taking place at the farm right now. Everyone is doing good, Duster is 100% again, and everyone is healthy except for a few runny noses and a little virus that is on its way out of the herd. We have been so busy and have not really had a chance to let everyone know what was happening.
Week Two of our summer day camps is over now. It looks like they had a really great time! I love to see the pictures of the kids doing crafts and enjoying their time out at the barn. Read more for the details and a link to their pictures!
After two years of searching I have finally found my new barrel horse and team mate. I have looked at several horses on the internet and finally found Comanche on NC Barrel Horse News. I found him in Butner/Creedmoor area near our good friends Marcus and Barb. I picked him up and took him over to Stem for an awesome trail ride. We rode for about three hours and then we came home on Sunday. Comanche has been busy ever since. We hosted a camp at the barn and then we took off for a weekend trail ride at Uwharrie National Forest. He loves to step and showoff with his buddies. He has to be at the front strutting his stuff and shaking his head...
Well, our first show ever hosted at EE Stables was a great success overall. We had great attendance and 100% participation from our students. I think the parents got a good chance to see how much their kids learned and everyone really enjoyed themselves - which is the most important part. We have a video up now that showcases the event - be sure to watch the video of our horse show when you get a chance.
We have a new horse out at the barn now. His name is Comanche (for now) and this is not the same horse that you see Grace riding in the videos section. Comanche belongs to Michelle and is going to be her new barrel racing horse. He is quite the stepper - very impressive to watch. I think he's going to do great. We've also officially opened registration for our first homeschool class. There are only six slots available so be sure to contact us soon and get your child registered before it's too late! Feel free to read more about our homeschool classes.
Man did we every have a blast! We drove down to the Lumber River campgrounds on Friday morning and camped out Friday and Saturday night. We went for some really fun rides throughout the weekend, but the highlight was a sixteen mile ride on Saturday that left us all pretty sunburnt and tired. The return trip was pretty exciting too, with two flat tires that turned a two hour drive into six... But we leave no one behind and we got through it all because we stuck together. That's what family does, right? Read on for details, or click here to see the pictures.
So as I told you last time, we are working really hard behind the scenes on our lesson program which we now call the "Four Shoes." We have nailed down (though not written in stone) the requirements for the first two shoes of the program. You can take a look at that over on the Four Shoes homepage.
Hello everyone! It's been a busy couple of weeks for us. We are working hard to get all the plans together for the show on June 2nd as well as making sure we have things organized for summer camp. By the way, camp is filling up so if you have not signed up yet, be sure to do that soon. See our summer camp page for more details. On top of that we are starting to fill up on June events with birthday party requests and what not. But we are continueing to refine our lesson program and get the Four Shoes ready to launch. Along those same lines Michelle and Lee are working on a curriculum that we plan to use and offer some special classes for homeschoolers starting this fall. Read on for more details.
Don't let anyone fool you. I don't care how long you've been riding horses or how tough you are, spending all day in the saddle is tough on your rump. We had a great time though. From ice cream to crashing a family get-together we had a very full day. Read on to hear about all the fun stuff we did.
I've been really hard at work over the past couple weeks making a new site for us because, well because.... Well, just because I felt like it okay? I guess I was getting bored with the last one. Plus, we had a lot more content we wanted to put up about our lesson program and some of our other services and the old structure just wasn't going to cut it. Read on if you want to see some of the details about what has changed and some of our new features.
We had a great day at the barn today. Actually, we've had a great weekend. The instructors all had Friday off so we loaded up and headed down to Twin Oaks Trails (visit their website) which is j...
... Makes the Double E Stables staff really bored. So we decided to take the day off last Saturday and head up to Umstead Park. If you've never been there I highly recommend planning a day. Even if you don't have horses it is a g...
Well, the weather has certainly kept us on our toes lately. It seems like one week is perfect and beautiful and the next is cold and miserable. But thankfully we've not had too many rainy Saturdays this winter. Our lesson program...
Man, has it been cold or what? Lucky has been bundling up in his blanky the last couple nights. Its funny when you go out in the morning and their water is frozen in their stall buckets.
Michelle and I had yet another stray dog s...
Well, its been a bit too long since an update. That is not due to a lack of news, just a lack of time. As you can see from our calendar, we've been very busy out at the barn lately. I want to make sure that everyone knows I'm really gr...
Well, our friends over in Bloomfield have permitted us to go over and do some pony rides on Saturday. We'll be setting up over there around noon and going until it gets dark. I hope to have some signs up this Wednesday or Thursday to l...
Well, I'm a bit late in getting this out to you, but I thought it would be worth it though. Melanie and a friend of hers really got into the spirit this year and dressed up like knights. Of course, every knight needs a horse to ride, s...
Yesterday Michelle and I said goodbye to our little Sugar. It seems like just yesterday I was shocked by the arrival of that little bundle of joy. But I t...
Holy moly, things move pretty fast when a new baby comes. It's funny, you'd think that nine months would give you time to mentally prepare for everything. Unfortunately, when you don't know what to mentally prepare for then you can't really, wel...
I finally got the chance to get the pics from last weekend up. I also got three videos of Tsunami and Duster "hitting it off," as it were... You can judge what you think is going on. As ...
There was a lot of change at Double E Stables this weekend. Shalom went to live with a different family and Duster came to stay with us. I was able to close a very important chapter in my horse experiences while opening yet another one.

Actually it was a ride in a trailer. I finally worked up the nerve to go all the way. There is no way it would have happened without Melanie too -- she was an invaluable help today (as usual). Its' funny, to me every head wobble, every movement...
When we are at church, the other horse owners will ask, "How's your baby? No, the other baby." Of course, they are talking about Sugar. Well, she is doing great. We have her drop tying so we can clean her feet in the pasture, tying s...
Michelle and I went to her doctor today and had a very special ultrasound done. It's called a 3D Ultrasound. Let me say that I'm not sure exactly how it works, but I can say that the result is nothing short of breath taking.

Last night I said farewell to another great horse. Lady was the first horse that I really rode on a regular basis. She was the one I learned the basic aspects of riding on, and the one that showed me how enjoyable riding can be. She was a speci...
Sugar is still doing great. We are working with her on leading and she is picking it up pretty fast. Now we lead her to and from the stall every morning and evening for feedings. We're also spending a lot of time just out in the pasture with he...
Michelle got the glamorous task of giving little Sugar her first enema this morning (ask your parents if you are wondering what that is). Yummy. Our friend from Church, Cindy, was "on hand" and helping out quite a bit (in ...
That is about as far as I got in my complaint that Dimples had pulled her corner feeder down last night. It was a normal Sunday morning feeding. I had fed Lucky, Shalom, and Tsunami and had just looked over the stall wall to drop Dimples feed. ...
Meet Duster, he's a twelve year old Quarter horse. Duster has not quite caught on to the fact that he's getting older and should be settling down now. He is a naturally athletic horse with lots of heart and spirit. As you will see in his pics h...
You know, the human body can only go so long without rest. Eventually you get really sleepy. After that, you just get downright silly. I'm at the silly stage now, so it may not be good for me to be posting to the site. However, I just...
Pretty much every weekend we are at the farm "doing stuff." I am normally fixing something that Jessie broke (hitching post), running the poop zamboni, or just cleaning up around the place. Michelle is normally giving lessons on Saturd...
In a suprise turn of events, Michelle and I got to be on WRAL last night. The segment was produced by Gloria Lopez, and we both think she did a great job. It's funny how a twenty minute interview can be reduced so effeciently to twenty seconds, ...
Michelle and I have been married for about four and a half years now. In an effort to prevent babies from entering the scene thus far I have bought or allowed her to have many pets. The list includes frogs, lizards, a hampster, a rabbit, a cat, ...
Well, another year has gone by and a fresh one starts a new. We hope everyone had a great holiday break - we certainly did. Michelle and I are excited about what this year could bring to EE Stables. Right now Michelle is leasing a horse for a c...

Yeah... so one thing at a time. First of all, the Easy Run finals were this past Saturday. Michelle had a good clean run of about eighteen seconds. It was a nice finish to the season. Her first few runs this year were 24 to 26 seconds, so drop...

Michelle had very nice run today in Goldsboro. She ran a 19.078 - a personal best for this arena. Goldsboro runs pretty slow compared to the other places we run. The winning time was a 17.4 (as opposed to Garner where runs in the sixteen second...
For the second week in a row Michelle brought home a 4D 2nd place finish. The run was really great - nice and clean and tight. Another really great barrel racer told Michelle that she took notes watching her first barrel on that run. It was a r...
Last night in Benson Michelle made us all proud and place 2nd in the 4D class. She had a great, clean run of 19.832. The fastest time last night was a 17.9, a bit slower than normal due to some loose sand that made the turns tougher. Michelle a...
