Mmm... Mmm... *munch* *munch Drool...
Wha? Oh, you talking to me? Oh, excuse me, I was just having a little mid-afternoon snack here. Pardon me, I will be right with you.
My story? Ah, of course! My story! I'd be glad to relate my story to you. I have appointments this afternoon and there is a lot of grazing to do, so I'll have to be brief.
I was born in the Spring of 1996. Growing up I got into English riding and liked it pretty well. However, a couple of years ago my rider moved away and could not take me with her (though I would never have done that to her...). Anyways, she decided to check me into the riding school there on the farm we were staying at. So I got to meet some new people, but most of them were not really my type. Kids, you know... they like to kick and run and I'm not really all about that. Why run when you can trot and for heaven's sakes, why trot when you can walk? Ah, but I digress... Where was I? Oh yes, English riding.
So suddenly English riding was just not as much fun as it used to be. Besides, I was getting pretty bored hanging around in a stall all day. So I decided it was time to move on and I talked to the barn managers about it. They decided to let me go. As if they had a choice? I was even giving them due notice of my resignation! Although they said something like "we'll just give him away to the first person who will take him" and put "free horse to good home" on the sign, I chose not to dwell on the symantics of the advertisement.
So that is when my new friends showed up. They came in and saw my rather cramped room and decided to give me a new place to stay. Of course it was kindof a learning experience. These guys were cowboys, not English riders. But I liked it and I took to this new western themed barn situation pretty well. Mind you, the electric fence took some getting used to, but I picked it up pretty quick.
Anyways, now we get to go on trail rides and my riders do pretty well. Aside from the occasional rider (one guy especially likes to wear spurs and torment me with commands to "trot" and "canter" or some other such nonsense...), I really like it. The fresh air and the outdoors are lots of fun. My friends here at the new place are real nice and we tolerate the humans because they give us some really yummy treats. Ah yes, lest I forget the best part! They also give us the absolute best hay I've ever had the pleasure of eating. You really must try it.
